Project Reveal - Dining Room - Ridgewood interior designer

I recently shared a powder room from my #gardnerhomeproject and now I’m sharing the completed dining room. This home is from the 1930’s and my client’s moved into the home needing to completely furnish almost every room. Blank slate / full room transformations are my favorite projects because we are not limited by any item(s) that need to stay. From the start, we knew that we were going to add white paneling to the bottom half of the walls and install wallpaper on the top. We had a couple of bold options but after looking at the swatches on the wall, this floral paper was the winner.

Here is a closer view of the sideboard which features a mirror and simple decor to not detract from all of the other elements in the space.

Here is the BEFORE photo. As you can see, the previous owners of the home had table for six in the space - we went with a larger table and light fixture which really fills the room. There is no other furniture in the room beyond the sideboard so that we could maximize the space for seating for eight.

Here is the concept board that I presented to my clients to illustrate the selections for the room.

Hanging art in your home - Ridgewood NJ interior designer

I have a new project that I can’t wait to share with you! This is #projectmodernlandmark and it’s a new build that I started working on in June and it just took forever for everything to finally be delivered. I’m starting with a small preview just to share a couple of the prints that we have selected for display.

The main living area is an open space for kitchen, dining and living. This wall features a 24x20 print called Lady Liberty and we had it framed via Framebridge. When filling a large wall, many people get scared of ordering something large but if you go too small it will get lost.

And here is another 18x24 Abstract print called Sea and Sky that is in a CB2 frame. It really fills up the wall above this beautiful sideboard in the dining area.

When I was at the home to take these photos, the light fixture above the dining table hadn’t arrived yet. But now it is here so I will return to take the rest of the photos of this beautiful space to share next week along with the 4 bedrooms. Stay tuned!

How to mix and match pillows - Ridgewood area interior designer

I love pillows and always enjoy selecting them when I am working on a client project. This week on Instagram, I shared this photo of my family room and I wanted to chat a little about how to mix and match pillows.

Pick a color palette and take into account what colors will work with the sofa/chair/bed that the pillows will be on.

Have fun with patterns and don’t be afraid to deviate from a traditional “set” of pillows for a more curated look.

Play with different sizes so that you have a combination of larger (24 or 22”) pillows in the back and smaller pillows in front.

In this living room we paired a couple of different blue pillows with an ivory pillow for contrast.

In this space I searched for pillows that would compliment the beautiful pattern in the rug and fell in love with this combination of earthy tones paired with blue lumbar pillows.

And in my “ackermanhomeproject living room you can see those sweet green striped pillows in the back on the brown leather chairs. And then on the ivory sofa I brought in some blue with the larger pillow and a more neutral lumbar pillow in front.

Ridgewood NJ interior designer Project Reveal

Here is a tiny preview from a multi room project in Ridgewood NJ that I’ve been working on since the spring and is finally (almost) done! We are waiting on the custom shade for the window but otherwise this powder room has been transformed. My clients are not afraid to go BOLD, so we did! I think a powder room is the perfect place to feature a dramatic wallpaper like this showstopper.

Much more to come from my #gardnerhomeproject soon!!

Here is a closer view of the pretty paper and vanity top!

I love this fun art! It is a Limited Edition screen print.

Here is a BEFORE photo of this Ridgewood bathroom. The home is from the 1930’s and it was a pretty obvious decision to keep this beautiful marble top vanity when we were planning the transformation.

And here is the most exciting thing that happened to me this week! Phillip Jeffries shared my work on their Instagram page of over 171k followers!! This was such a huge thrill and honor for me to have my work recognized by the leader in wallcoverings!
