Usually I will scroll through my camera roll and find random photos of our cat taken by my daughters who routinely steal my phone. But this morning I found this photo that my 12 year old apparently took yesterday during one of her breaks from virtual school. I may need to bring her with me the next time I photograph a project!

I love to add warmth to light and airy spaces. The easiest way to do that is with bringing in some wood tones and greenery. In a kitchen, bowls and cutting boards are a simple way to add in warmth. Fresh flowers or greenery like this Eucalyptus from Trader Joe’s in a vase is a quick way to spruce up any space.

In a white kitchen it’s important to have some contrast. The black hardware in the knobs and pulls along with the black pendants is a great way to balance out the white cabinets and backsplash tile.

Kitchen lighting - Northern NJ interior designer

Lighting is sometimes referred to as the ‘jewel” of the room and that sure is the case here! I fell in love with these pendants for their unique antique mirrored glass inside the shade.

Here you can see the pendants from a zoomed out angle and how they relate to the other jewel in the room - the fixture over the kitchen table!

I have a confession. I have NEVER had a cup of coffee. EVER.

But that doesn’t stop me from collecting pretty coffee mugs for my kitchen shelves!

I love changing up the decor on my open shelving in my kitchen. It’s a great way to bring in some color to my classic white kitchen and show some personality. I try to always have some plants (3 out of the 4 that you see in this photo are real - can you tell which one is faux?)
