Bergen County Kitchen Designer - Renovation Details

I am so happy to share photos of this recently renovated kitchen. We started this process about a year ago with the planning stage and then in the summer the work began and finally last week we were able to photograph the finished space. It’s stunning!!

Here is where we started with the kitchen:

You can see we removed the wall between the kitchen and dining room and added more windows as well.

I really love the custom table which features an easy to clean Quartz top.

I am a big fan of open shelves in a kitchen (I have them in my own kitchen and after 8 years, no regrets!). We took the tile up to the ceiling around the shelves and the windows as well.

I absolutely love to decorate shelves - whether they are in a kitchen or in an office or built-ins by a fireplace- it makes me so happy to style a shelf. These were no exception and I really love how the wood stain came out as a nice contrast to the dark wood floors in the kitchen.

We went with a dark color for the island and the rich color goes so perfectly with the brass hardware.

Here is a closer look at the clock and pendants. Mixing metals and finishes in a kitchen really elevates the space.

The cabinets are all inset which I think is such a timeless and classic style. From this view you can also see all of the natural light that the kitchen enjoys from the additional windows and larger slider to the deck.

The pendant over the kitchen table is such a fun focal point from this side of the kitchen.

Leather stools are so practical, especially with kids for easy clean up. The legs of the stools are a similar wood tone to the open shelves.

I love the extra thick Quartz top used on the island.

Stay tuned for more from this home- we are working on the the living room now which will hopefully be wrapped up in the spring.

Kitchen transformation with green cabinets - Bergen County interior designer

I am so excited to share this kitchen transformation! Last July, when I first met my client we talked about how she envisioned green cabinets in her kitchen and I was in total support of this idea. We made all of the selections later in the summer and then had a long wait until the renovation was completed in February. But I can confidently say that it was definitely worth the wait

Here is where we started with the kitchen:

You will notice that we kept the layout of the kitchen virtually the same although we did enlarge the window because my client has a green thumb. We also added light fixtures with the pendants over the sink and the island.

The backsplash tile is one of my favorites and we were able to go right up to the ceiling with it around the new window.

I don’t love being in front of the camera, but it’s hard not to smile being in this gorgeous kitchen!

I am happy that my client was on board with mixing metals - I think the black and brass pair so perfectly together.

There is a small bathroom right off of the kitchen - you can see the kitchen in the reflection of the mirror. We felt like the bathroom was an extension of the kitchen so we kept the same paint color and incorporated black in the fixtures.

Here is a before/after comparison of the bathroom:

I have had so many fun client consultations and appointments over the past few weeks. This is a photo from one of the projects that I am working on with a new client. We are working on this gorgeous family room and have already picked out the sectional sofa, rug and a beautiful sideboard. More photos coming soon but for now, here is a view of their amazing windows overlooking the backyard.

So many people tried to talk me out of #carraramarble countertops in our kitchen. I am so happy I didn’t listen. I did my research reading countless blogs and articles about marble in kitchens. I visited 8 stone yards until I found the perfect slab. After almost a year I love these countertops as much as the day they were installed.

Marble is not for everyone. If you are going to feel stressed out everytime you cook or host a party because you think there are going to be stains from every spill, then I wouldn't get marble.  We cook in our kitchen almost every night- the day that our marble was installed my daughter made ice cream in our kitchen. We host a lot of parties. We have spilled red wine, tomato sauce, salsa, you name it.  I don't sweat it. I wipe it up and it's totally fine!!  We don't have a single stain on our marble.  It's honed which is more forgiving than polished.  And it was sealed the day it was installed which also helps.  There is some etching that you can only notice in certain light BUT our granite in our old kitchen also had etching so that isn't strictly something that occurs with marble.  And nobody else notices the etching.

Morale of the story is to get what you LOVE. Whatever you have your heart set on.  If you don't you could always have regrets which could cost more time and money in the long-run to remedy.
