When I went for a consultation at my client’s home and saw this 10’ wall in her living room, I suggested a large console table to fill the space. This is a practical and beautiful solution because the drawers provide storage for mail and keys, the lamps provide needed light in a room with no overhead lighting and the baskets are a great place to store blankets and scarfs and hats since it is right by the front door.

Northern NJ interior designer

I am so excited to share this mudroom with you today! This space has evolved since the time when I first started to design the space. Initially I envisioned it having built ins along the wall with a bench and hooks and cubbies for backpacks and sports bags. But then as construction progressed, plans changes and I decided that this wall was calling for a photo display instead. So now the coats and most shoes are housed in the walk in closet at the end of the hallway (the door that is closed). And the backpacks and sports bags and kept behind the barn door which is a large pantry / laundry room. Freeing up the wall for photos was the best decision and makes the space feel so much bigger too.

Ridgewood NJ interior designer

I recently had my kitchen and mudroom painted and am loving the new color!! This is Swiss Coffee which is the color I already have in my family room adjoining the kitchen. It is a subtle change (this room used to be Grey Owl which I typically like but never loved in my own house because it tended to look too green). I am loving this small change and it further reminds me how much paint can impact a room!
