NJ Master Bedroom Interior Designer

I am so excited to share this master bedroom design project!  My client contacted me in May saying that she wanted to create a master bedroom retreat before baby #3 was born. We were on a major time crunch but everything fell into place!  Now mom and dad have a beautiful and relaxing space to go to at the end of the day raising three little ones. 

The first step in our process of working together was asking her to fill out my client questionnaire form. In it she said that her style was "Rustic/beachy/shabby chic" and that she liked "whites, creams, grays, blues, greens (mostly muted/blushes)."   Next I went to her home for a consultation where I was able to see what furniture and decor she needed and what was staying in the room as she already had a couple of dressers that remained.  We looked at inspiration photos, discussed budget and ideas and created a shopping list of items for me to source. 

Then the real fun began as I spent the next couple of weeks putting ideas together.  We met at Home Goods to shop together for the bedding and last Friday was installation day!  I brought my handyman and we put the new room together- hung the art, installed the new custom headboard, arranged the rug, hung the drapes and new rods and fluffed the pillows :)

Personalizing your home- tips from Northern NJ interior designer

It can be a challenge making a house into a home!  It's always great to personalize your decor with items that have special meaning to you and your family,  but you have to also be careful not to go overboard and get cluttered. 

Here is a little nook in my home that I used to display some special items. We LOVE to travel and usually pick out one special souvenir from each trip to bring home with us.  On our trip to #Sardinia a few summers ago, we brought home this cute framed fish piece that we found at a local craft market in the village where we stayed.  I then printed one of the photos that I took from the trip and had it done as a 10x20 canvas print. 

I paired them next to each other since I liked how the colors flow together and they are "related":

What about photos?  Are you not into the idea of many large family photos on the wall? Or just have too many photos and not enough wall space? I love this bulletin board from Ballard that I put in our mudroom. With push pins it is so easy to swap out photos and it is a great way to display a bunch of photos without taking up a lot of space on the wall.

Kitchen trends this Northern NJ interior designer loves

When it comes to designing kitchens, I really love the look of black and white, mixed in with a little natural wood.  This is such a classic and timeless look especially when paired with a natural stone.  White cabinets can scare some people off who think that the look is too stark, but when you contrast that white with touches of black and incorporate natural wood tones, then you really soften the whole space and white becomes warm and inviting. 

I love this kitchen by Juniper Studio!  I think the black soapstone counterops are so sharp with all of the white in the rest of the space.  The shelves are so beautifully styled too!

I loved working on this master bedroom design project for my client!  We were on a little bit of a time crunch because my client hired me when she was about 7 months pregnant with her 3rd baby.  She wanted a relaxing retreat and said that her style was "Rustic/beachy/shabby chic".  I was up for the challenge!! 

Here is her concept board of the final items that I sourced for her space and I can't wait to share the photos of her finished room!  I went to her house last week for installation day and it looks amazing!  It's about 95% complete with just a couple of finishing touches to go.  So stay tuned for a full reveal including before and after photos!
